- Seminars (Short courses) delivered on GIS. project coordinator from Lund University (Prof. Ali Mansourian) and Professor Petter Pilesjo visited Makerere and delivered lecturers on SDI. These were during the Annual review meetings (October 2016), and also during the week for the Annual Planning meeting (April 2017).
- Exploratory Studies PhD students Research Proposals. Four PhD students conducted exploratory studies to support Proposal writing. These were Ms. Margaret Nagwovuma, Ms. Irene Arinaitwe, Mr. Ongaya Kizito and Rose Nakasi.
- Baseline Surveys. Conducted baseline survey on nodding syndrome in northern Uganda specifically in Gulu, Lamwo, Kitgum, Omoro, Pader and Nwoya districts
- Conducted baseline survey in Iganga, Mayuge to understand the data sent to the PhD students and determine factors or variables of the baseline survey and familiarize ourselves with the Health and Demographic Surveillance Sight (HDSS) centre.
- Conducted baseline survey on bilharzia disease prevalence in the Ministry of Health, Namayingo, Mayuge, Hoima, and Buliisa districts
- The draft Curriculum on PHD in IS. Conducted a workshop at Gulu University (involving subject matter experts from MAK, Gulu and NCHE) to finalize the curriculum review for PhD. Information Systems with a GES track. Further Conducted a stakeholder consultative and evaluation workshop on the revised PhD. IS (GES). Conducted focus group discussions and meetings to consolidate feedback from the stakeholder workshop on the revised PhD. IS (GES) in order to generate a final version for approval by the Higher Degrees and Research Committee of SCIT. Presented the PhD. IS (GES) curriculum at the Higher Degrees and Research Committee of SCIT and obtained feedback for improvement. Presented the PhD. IS (GES) curriculum at the Academic Board of the College of Computing and IS and obtained feedback for improvement. Draft Curriculum in Place awaiting Submission to Senate
- A laboratory for e-services. A laboratory for e-services with a capacity to sit up to 40 participants was set up.
- E-learning needs assessment survey. Done to get the baseline data in the context of e-learning adoption in higher institutions of learning in Uganda. Selected institutions include; MAK, KyU, MUBS, BUS, GU, Bishop Stuart University and MUST. Conducted focus group discussions and meetings to analyze data from the needs assessment survey on the baseline context of e-learning adoption in higher institutions of learning, and compile the baseline survey report on e-learning. Conducted a workshop at Gulu University (involving subject matter experts from MAK, Gulu and NCHE) to develop the first draft of the curriculum of the e-learning short course 29th April 2018 – 1st May 2016(change dates)
- Recruited Masters Students. Conducted evaluation meeting to evaluate applicants for the Masters slots on the project, and eventually recruited two Masters students
- Recruited one PhD student. Conducted evaluation meeting with Swedish partners to evaluate the academic documents of potential candidates and selected Ms. Rose Nakasi who was at the same level of progress as the current students on the project
